STUDENT VISA APPLICATIONS REACH PEAK PERIOD, NEW COST OF ANNUAL LIVING AMOUNTS REQUIREMENT AND VISA DECLARATION
Every year between January and April is the peak period for student visa applications due to most of the courses being finished from November to December and the student visa expiring in the following February to March. The Department of Home Affairs reminds applicant to submit complete applications at least six weeks before course commencement due to the overwhelming applications handled by the Department which may increase the processing time.
NEW REQUIREMENT OF COST OF ANNUAL LIVING AMOUNTS
From 1 February 2018, the cost of annual living amounts will increase so every application where evidence of funds is required should include evidence to prove the applicants have sufficient funds to support their first 12 month stay on a student visa. The new amounts are as below:
Student or guardian AUD$20,290
Other costs include travel and school cost of dependent child have no change.
DECLARATION OF PREVIOUS VISA REFUSALS OR CANCELLATIONS
The Department reminds applicants to declare any previous visa refusals or cancellations from any country for themselves and family members, even if the family members are not intending to travel to Australia. Different countries may call differently about these terms, like a rejection, denial or a visa declined. Failure in declaration may lead to visa refusal and being banned for re-entry for 3 years under PIC4020, this will also entail in your every following visa applications.
